Not sure if I should spend a lot of time bragging about a simple can opener. In short, this unit is very easy to use,good for tall cans, short cans and does an excellent job. Its easy to clean since its detachable, looks beautiful(Metallic), functional since the chord can be stored in the unit. Overall engineered well, planned well, esthetically pleasing and practical. Now how many products can we brag that's well rounded. Just one shortfall. Its made in China. This is a terrific electric can opener with the power to get the job done, at a great price. Over the past couple of years, my wife tried four others from various local stores. These less expensive models looked nice but were so light they would fall over from the weight of a can, and they frequently broke down. I searched Amazon for some alternative models, and decided the reviews for this one impressed me most for residential use. This can opener was offered in a choice of colors, so my wife picked metallic to match her various other kitchen appliances. When it arrived, we were immediately impressed by the fact that it stayed where we put it, and it didn't complain about opening cans. An added plus is the bottle opener and knife sharpener on the back. I tend to favor heavy duty appliances that can go the distance, and this one appears to be a top notch choice for home kitchen electic can openers. Good job West Bend! (P.S. We got a second one for my cousin who has arthritis in her hands and can't use a manual can opener. She can use this and loves it!)

I've been through too many electric can openers over the past few years. I was starting to think a you could find a good one anymore. Tired of the magnet shoving the lid into your can and making a mess? Get this can opener. Best one I've seen in years.
