Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of West Bend 78220 Quik Serve Toaster, WhiteCustomer Review: Not what was expected. Summary: 1 Stars
The toaster did a good job as far as toasting went. When finished, product would not drop through the bottom. Tried Bagels,English muffins, and bread. All behaved in a similar fashion.
Customer Review: Not a good purchase at all! Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased one of these toasters in January and after three uses it failed. The toast went right through without toasting. The trap doors that are supposed to hold the toast in place were open and would let the bread slide out without toasting it! I found a number to call West Bend, the manufacturer, and they sent a replacement. That was good news. The replacement actually worked for a couple of months and then failed the same way the first one did. I haven't called the company again, because frankly I want a different toaster next time--something that will work. This was a waste of money. If I could give a no-star review, I would give a no-star review. The only bright spot was the company's immediate replacement. The dim spot was that the replacement was really no better than the first one.
Customer Review: Not as good Summary: 2 Stars
Bought this to replace the one we lost in a fire. This toaster is not as good as the older one. Toasts fast then when you add the butter it gets soggy real fast. Toasts burns easily, you have to set the browning so low. Sorry I bought this one.
Customer Review: Super slick toaster Summary: 5 Stars
This toaster is great! Fast and easy to use and slim in design. Toasts bagels and toast perfectly using the desired control. Comes in black or white. Best of all the toast or bagel drops down when done through bottom to a tray which also folds up when not in use. No more burned fingers or chance of electrocution picking out your breakfast from toaster. You'll not go back to conventional toasters once you try this one.
Customer Review: West Bend Slide Through #78220 Summary: 3 Stars
I had one of these toasters some years ago and it worked beautifully, until my husband broke it--it wasn't the toaster's fault. I finally ordered a new one this Christmas and also one for my mom. They both arrived and worked for about a week then ours only toasted on one side and the trap door on Mom's wouldn't stay shut--the weight of the bread opened it right up. Two replacements were sent by Focus Electrics, who handles West Bend customer service. Mom's has been working fine, ours, however, again only toasts on one side--though this time if I held the toast/bagel button in toward "toast" the whole time, it would toast on both sides. But this is not acceptable. I wrote to them about this faulty replacement on Jan. 21, no response. I sent another note on Jan. 27, still no response. I am hoping that they will come through with a WORKING PROPERLY replacement for me.
As you can imagine, my initial love for this product is waning.
