Might make a good deep fryer but this thing is no good for fondue. I followed the directions that came with the unit to make fondue. I turned it on and it started boiling. I could not control the heat at all. On the lowest setting it started boiling the ingredients and then burnt the fondue. I would not recommend this to anyone for making fondue..Customer Review: complete junk

let me start off by telling you i'm swiss; we know a thing or two about fondue.
this thing is complete junk. the heat control isn't continuously variable, but rather simply alternates between full on and off. this means there's no such thing as a medium heat setting: it's burn-freeze-burn-freeze etc. it's like trying to get medium sized rocks by mixing boulders and pebbles; it just doesn't work that way. i threw it out after destroying one batch of cheese; luckily, i tried it out before inviting guests over. don't waste your money; you can do much better buying something else.
