There are few timers that let you type in the time rather than gradually counting up from zero. The extra buttons cost a few dollars but they save lots of time and aggravation.Customer Review: Great Timer - But not for hearing impaired.

I was looking for a loud timer, and I bought this timer because of it's outstanding customer reviews. Many said that it was a loud timer. The others I live with tell me that it is indeed loud, but with my high frequency hearing loss, I can barely even hear it when I hold it up to my ear in a quiet room.
If you're hearing impaired and looking for a loud kitchen timer, you might want to try a vibrating kitchen timer instead - such as one from "Shake Awake". Don't waste your time with this one.
It is a nice timer, though. It's easy to use, and seems to be well built.

Great timer, simple to use, just punch in the time you want and start it. I wanted a very insistent timer that doesn't stop beeping until you deal with it, and that's what this one does.
However, the magnet on the back for refrigerator use is useless -- if you push the buttons on the timer, the timer falls off the fridge every time. (How hard would this have been to test at the factory?) It also comes with a clip on the back, but I can't for the life of me think of anything in the kitchen you could clip it to. So if you're happy just standing it up on a counter somewhere -- it's an excellent timer.

Works great, but tended to fall on the floor when we pressed the buttons, and after a few falls the magnet on the back broke off at the hinges. Since then we've been holding it to the fridge with a giant magnetic clip, and it continues to work fine. OXO Chip Bag Clip Set, Assorted Colors
